The Family Cruise

On Sunday May 4th, the family vacation began! All 11 of us flew down to Florida, to then get on board a huge ship! It didn't leave until 7 that night, so we had the afternoon to wander around the ship and even had time for a sit down dinner before we left. This ship was sooo big, that I got lost many times trying to find certain places. It had 18 decks with a bunch of pools and hot tubs, a huge screen tv, all of these different places to eat, and lots and lots of places to sit out in the sun!! On Monday, we were at sea all day. We mostly just ate, laid out in the sun, played some mini-golf, and of course ate some more. That night was formal night, so we had to get all dressed up. This cruise had some awesome dinners, but even better desserts!!!

Tuesday, we arrived in the morning to Turks & Caicos island. It was only about 7 miles long, but we had a lot of fun swimming in the ocean, taking a walk on the beach, going to the pool area, and walking around to the shops. We all got quite burnt that day, since we aren't used to the bright sun, but it was worth it!

The cruise line owns it's own private island in the Bahamas. So on Wednesday, we got a chance to spend the day there. It was sooooo beautiful, the pictures do not do it justice. We did pretty much the same thing we did at the other island, but got a chance to spend more time there. Of course, we tried to stay out of the sun just a little bit, so as not to get burnt even more, but we just couldn't!! We didn't do any shore excursions, but that was just fine with me. I would much rather have stayed right on the beach, relaxing in a chair and just looking out at the beautiful creation God has made!!

One of my favorite things to do on the cruise was to sit out on the deck with a book and look at out into the open ocean. I said many times to Jon, that it was just weird that we were out on this ocean, with no land for miles and miles. Even looking out into the ocean, I just couldn't fathom how people couldn't believe in God. It really was just a beautiful view!!

We had such an amazing time on this vacation, that it was very sad to leave. It is hard now to get back into the routine of things, and even getting back into work, but I am so thankful that we had that time as family to be together in a beautiful place!! I highly recommend cruises to anyone who is thinking about going on one!! It is so worth it!!
